medwireNews: ESMO and EURACAN, the European Reference Network for rare adult solid cancers, have partnered to develop a Clinical Practice Guideline to help standardize the management of testicular cancer.
The guideline addresses the diagnosis, staging, and management of locoregional and metastatic seminoma and nonseminoma, as well as follow-up, long-term implications and survivorship. It also briefly discusses personalized management, noting that serum microRNAs show “promising clinical applicability but cannot be recommended yet in routine clinical care.”
A multidisciplinary group of experts collaborated to develop the recommendations, which “are based on available scientific data and the authors’ collective expert opinion.”
The document follows the ESMO standard operating procedures for Clinical Practice Guideline development and is published in the Annals of Oncology.
