medwireNews: ESMO has issued a Clinical Practice Guideline on using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) during the care of people with cancer.

The guideline – published in the Annals of Oncology – covers the use of PROMs from the start of active anticancer treatment and through follow-up to the end of life. It provides recommendations on subjects ranging from the selection of instruments and modes of administration to responding to PROMS data and remote monitoring alerts.

The document is authored by a multidisciplinary panel of experts from Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia and the “[r]ecommendations are based on available scientific evidence and the authors’ collective expert consensus.”
